Delete Your Account
Play Data Safety / Account & Data Deletion
This page explains how to permanently delete your GameTrack.golf account and data — whether you currently have the app installed or not. It also explains, specifically, what is deleted, what is retained, and why.
Option 1: Delete from within the app
GameTrack includes an account-deletion screen (Settings → Account → Delete Account), which asks you to confirm your password and permanently deletes your account. This in-app option is being finalized for the next app update and is not yet exposed as a menu item in every current build. If you don't see a Delete Account option under Settings in your version of the app, use the email method below — it is processed by the same team, works identically, and does not require the app to be installed.
Option 2: Request deletion by email (no app required)
If you've uninstalled the app, don't have access to it, or prefer not to use the in-app flow, you can request account deletion by email. This is the recommended method and works whether or not GameTrack is installed on your device.
How to request deletion
- Email privacy@gametrackgolf.com from the email address associated with your GameTrack account.
- Use the subject line "Delete My Account".
- Include your account email address (and display name, if you know it) so we can locate your account.
Email privacy@gametrackgolf.com
We verify the request is coming from the account owner before deleting anything.
What gets deleted
- Your login credentials and ability to sign in
- Your account profile and other general account information: email, phone, home course, and avatar/photo
- Private messages and conversations you're part of
- Connection requests and blocked-user lists
What is retained, and why
GameTrack is a shared, social scoring app — many records you create (a league match, an event round, a group scorecard, a handicap-pool score) also belong to other players who played with or against you, and to the group, league, or event that hosted the play. Name and score data tied to that shared activity is not deleted or anonymized when your account is deleted — removing it would erase other people's legitimate history along with yours. Specifically:
- Name and score data tied to a group, league, event, or handicap pool is retained and is not anonymized. League match results, event participation, group scorecards, and handicap-pool contributions keep your display name attached to them after your account is deleted. These are shared competitive records — other players' standings, handicaps, and event history depend on knowing who played, and anyone who plays with or against you needs to be able to see whose score and handicap they're looking at.
- The group, league, or event controls that data. If you participate in a group, event, or league that uses GameTrack.golf, that entity — not your individual account — has control of the name-and-score data tied to its activity. Deleting your account does not remove your history from their records.
- Groups you created, and your membership in other groups, are not deleted. Removing a group you created would also erase the history of every other member, so it stays intact; your membership and activity in groups you belong to is handled the same way, as part of that group's shared record.
- Handicap pool rounds you contributed to a shared group's handicap pool are retained — the pool's calculated handicap is shared math that other members' numbers depend on.
- Visibility. Current group, league, and event data — such as rosters, scores, standings, and handicaps — is generally visible to members of that group/league/event and to its participants. Results from league, group, or event play may be published publicly. General account information is not published publicly.
- Backup copies of your data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days after deletion, after which they are purged as part of routine backup rotation.
- Transaction records (e.g. subscription/payment identifiers) may be retained where we're required to keep them for tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.
- Anonymous, aggregated usage data that cannot be tied back to you (e.g. crash reports already stripped of identifiers) may be retained for analytics.
Outside of the retained records above, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
How long it takes
Email requests are reviewed and actioned by our team, typically within 7 business days. If you request deletion by email, you'll receive a confirmation reply once your account and personal data have been deleted or anonymized. Backup purging (see above) completes within 30 days of deletion.
